My last season coaching was for U-14 Boys Rec in Spring 2003. I had coached both
my boys teams for some 12 years. In Autumn 2003 my youngest son started Daniel Hand High School in Madison and he played on their "freshman" or first years team. I did not coach any team that Autumn and only watched my son's team play a few times -- it was very painful just to watch, I was dying to show them how to play the proper way. The team had a new coach and I'm not so sure the boys were trying hard enough for him. I don't know if I will coach again. Perhaps, if somebody needs me. I do miss it, especially on game days. I would like to try my hand at coaching girls teams. I have not coached girls since my early years of coaching when the Clinton Youth Soccer Club kept boys and girls mixed together until they were 9-years old. The girls were a joy to coach, they always listened, messed around less and were hungry to learn. Coaching is a big time commitment, that part is always difficult to juggle, but, I would love to do it again someday. |
